PCI held a successful convention in Kansas City with over 900 attendees and highlighted strong committee and council productivity. President/CEO Bob Risser introduced two new staff members: Angela Trembley (Publications Manager) and Fahri Khan (Education Coordinator). Risser announced his planned retirement in March 2027 and outlined the CEO succession process: an Executive Committee–led search committee (chaired by Vice Chair Lloyd Kennedy with broad member representation) will select a recruiting firm by early summer, refine the job description, and aim to hire the next CEO by November/December 2026 for overlap before the 2027 convention.<br /><br />PCI’s strategic plan is being updated with largely the same direction, adding an education-focused goal and considering governance improvements (board size, committee structure). Completion is targeted for the summer board meeting, potentially slipping to Committee Days in September.<br /><br />Technical and standards work remains robust, including the new PCI Design Handbook (9th edition) and several new or forthcoming publications (thin brick, piles, tolerances, bridge evaluation, fire resistance, hollowcore, erectors manual, seismic guides, and a data center design guide). Certification improvements include an online plant audit distribution system and expanded exam access via testing centers.<br /><br />Marketing and education efforts show growth, including increased online CEU participation and ongoing workforce and sustainability initiatives. Government affairs updates included a joint PCI/NPCA fly-in focusing on workforce visas, immigration reform, transportation funding reauthorization, project labor agreements, and trucking regulation conflicts. Upcoming events include tours, leadership summits, awards programs, and Committee Days in San Antonio (Sept. 8–11).
