PCI Online Academy: Concrete Connection Design - Session 3 Exam

This is the post-exam for Session 3: Double Tee Connections. This class will cover the variety of design and performance criteria connections are required to meet, including strength, ductility, volume change accommodation, durability, fire resistance, constructability, tolerances, and seismic requirements. Typical precast concrete connection details will be reviewed and discussed in detail. 

After completing this session, participants should:
  • Be familiar with typical cross sections of precast concrete double tee components.
  • Be familiar with common connections used with double tees.
  • Be able to identify the loads resisted by double tee floor systems.
  • Be able to select the appropriate connection to join the double tee to other structural components.
  • Design a double tee connection (plates, welds, bars, and headed stud anchor groups.)
  • Be aware of design requirements for double tee diaphragm connections in moderate to high seismic regions.
