PCI Online Academy: Concrete Connection Design - Session 4 Exam

This is the post-exam for Session 4: Wall Connections. This class will cover the variety of design and performance criteria connections are required to meet, including strength, ductility, volume change accommodation, durability, fire resistance, constructability, tolerances, and seismic requirements. Typical precast concrete connection details will be reviewed and discussed in detail. 

After completing this session, participants should:
  • Understand the structural integrity provisions of ACI 318-14 that apply to precast wall panels and
    bearing-wall structures.
  • Know the common precast wall panel connection details.
  • Be able to design a wall panel hold-down welded connection.
  • Be able to design a wall panel hold-down grouted connection.
  • Be able to design a wall-to-wall shear connection.
  • Be able to design a weld-on steel corbel.
  • Practice using the PCI Design Handbook tables and design aids.
