PCI eLearning Course T629: Journal Paper on Pile Axial Load Limits
Description

This course is the fourth in a four-part series on prestressed concrete piles. ACI 318-19 and the 2018 International Building Code have axial load limits for prestressed concrete piles in moderate and high seismicity areas. Researchers at The Citadel conducted a study on the background of the load limits and performed analyses on 14-in.-square prestressed concrete piles.

After completing the course, the student will be able to:

  • Understand the background of code-required axial load limits for prestressed concrete piles.

  • Describe moment-curvature behavior of prestressed concrete piles.

  • Understand the logic of The Citadel research on 14-in.-square prestressed concrete piles.

  • Understand The Citadel research findings as well as the conclusions and recommendations of the researchers regarding axial load limits for prestressed concrete piles.
