As precast/prestressed concrete construction continues to grow in the United States, there is a need for building with knowledge of precast/prestressed concrete production and erection quality standards and best practices. Many inspectors, inexperienced with the PCI Body of Knowledge, are wary of precast/prestressed concrete structures and, consequently, are unsure of how to proceed with the inspection of such structures. This program will dispel any special inspector’s such worry; detailing precast concrete structures, how they are erected and how precast concrete structures should be inspected during the erection process – all according to the 2012 IBC. Created by PCI’s Special Inspections Task Group, this program comes directly from PCI’s Body of Knowledge and is a don’t miss for those engaged in special inspections activities.

The program will be presented in three 1.5 hour sessions which will focus on inspection procedures for those areas of precast concrete construction that PCI considers vital to the safe and successful erection of a precast concrete building. Topics to be discussed include welding, grouting, member condition assessment, bearing assemblies and bracing.
