This course presents advanced design topics of precast/prestressed components based on information presented in Chapter 5 of the 8th Edition PCI Design Handbook. The course builds on the concepts developed in the Basic Prestressed Concrete Design class offered by PCI. The development of design provisions resulting from recently completed research supported by PCI is emphasized.
Objective
The main objectives of this course are to present the background and details of provisions for design of precast/prestressed components including torsion, dapped end design, ledge design, corbel design, design of compression members, and detailing of beam openings.
